1.Greetings when did the members of Exterminas first meet? What is the current line-up of the band?
Exterminas was formed in 2009 by me and Raven. Later the other members joined and the current line-up is: me and Eskathon on guitars, Raven on drums, Februus as vocalist and Skoll on bass.
2.For the readers who have never heard Exterminas how would you describe the music?
Basically we play black metal. I can not be more clear because someone says we are close to Marduk, others says we are close to Satyricon or Darkthrone and so on. I would say it's '90s black metal seen from our personal point of view.
3.Exterminas released their debut cd "Seventh Demonical Hierachy" through Metal Media how did you come into contact with this great label? How has the response been from the fans? What about the press?
We have found out about Metallic Media through some their releases and decided to get in touch. The response from the fans was rather good and so from the press. The album received some some very good reviews and we were pleased of the general response.
4.I believe I read on your facebook page that Exterminas has a new Mcd coming out? How many songs will their be on the new release? Will you all work with Metallic Media again?
Yes, at the time we are working on a new album and it is almost complete although I do not know when it is going to be released. There will be 8 tracks, as in the previous work. We have not spoken with Metallic Media about a new collaboration. I don't think we will work with them this time. We have decided to collaborate with an European label for this release and we are already in touch with some of them.
5.How long does it usually take the band to write a song? Does the whole band work on the music or does one member usually write everything?
There is no standard time to write a song. Some of them are finished very quickly and for others it takes a bit longer. Usually I or Eskathon compose the guitars' parts and then we all work on it together.
6.Who usually takes care of the lyrics? what are some topics/subjects you all write about?
Lyrics are usually written by Februus. Our songs are about nonsenses of religions and about the will to oppose all kinds of dogmas.
7.Does Exterminas play very many live shows or do you all prefer to work in the studio? What have been some of your most memorable shows to date?
We certainly prefer to play live shows and not to work only in the studio. We have had many shows, it is hard to say which one was the most memorable. There are many shows I remember gladly, maybe playing at Winterstorm Festival (metal festival in Venice) and supporting The Stone are amongst our more satisfying shows.
8.Are their any shows or possible tours set-up for 2015? Who are some bands you have had the opportunity to share the stage with? Has the band ever gotten to play outside of Italy yet?
At the moment there are not confirmed shows for this year, as we are focussing on the new album. We have played with many bands, amongst all of them I would mention Impiety and The Stone. With the last one we have played and Bosnia and that is the only show outside of Italy for the moment.
9.Exterminas comes out of the Italian black metal scene.What is your opinion of Italy's Black metal scene?
There is no real black metal scene in Italy. There is a huge number of bands but there is no concord. Many of them act like superstars and the is no working-hard culture. On the other hand we have many people complaining about the lack of live shows and then not going to them and supporting the bands when then play. The Italian black metal scene seems to be only on Facebook at the moment.
10.Who are your all-time favorite Italian bands? Are their any new bands you feel the readers should check out soon?
I can not choose a single band. Just check them all!! I think every band deserves an opportunity.
11.What does Black Metal mean to you all?
Black metal is a passion for us. We play this kind of music because it's what we want to do and we feel that it can entirely spread our thoughs.
12.Are any of the members of Exterminas currently working with side-bands or solo projects? If yes please tell the readers about them?
At the moment I am working with my new post black metal band called Dispersion (http://dispersion1.bandcamp.com/releases). Last year we have released the debut EP and we are working on the first full length now.
